Motion is where my practice started: 15+ years of 2D
animation, VFX, and video for brands and agencies. Most of
that client work lives under NDA, so this page holds my own
work: patterns I've drawn, set in motion, and studies in
directing animation with AI and code.
// Patterns in motion
Where the two halves meet
Most pattern designers don't animate, and most motion
designers don't draw surface patterns. I do both, so a
pattern of mine doesn't have to stay still.
Pot Party is built from two of my hand-drawn collections,
Cactus in a Pink Pot and Pink Plant in a Pink Cup. The
pots hop in a wave, with a sparkle at the top of each hop,
inside a repeat that drifts and loops without a seam: the animated-wallpaper technique
I've used for brand work, applied to my own designs.
Colorway shuffleAthena's Vases drifts as a seamless tile while an iris wipe steps through all eight hand-drawn colorways.Whirling BloomsRetro Flora in motion: each bloom turns while the grid shifts underneath.Tile to productThe print pipeline in one move: a single Art Deco Tulips tile repeats outward, then closes down onto the bag it's printed on.
// Trend studies
Four short studies built from 2026 trend forecasts. Each one
was made in code with Remotion, then rebuilt as a native
After Effects project with its timing on sliders, so it can
be retimed by hand.
Neo Deco fanBrass line art draws itself on stroke by stroke, mirrors, shrinks to tile size, and repeats into an Art Deco fan.Gimme GummySixteen glossy candies squish in a wave: a four-second loop that lands back on its first frame.Neo Deco sunburstA quarter of a Deco sunburst draws on in brass, flips across both axes into a whole tile, and repeats under a chrome sheen.FunHausHarlequin diamonds flip through three colorway waves while the stars spin and pop as each one passes.
// Seasonal series
Daily series for social. Each post takes one effect from my
motion glossary, plays it with a holiday twist, and names the
knob that makes it work: the frame gap, the depth, the ease.

24 Days of Motion
One motion effect a day through Christmas Eve, each a holiday take on a technique from the glossary, directed with AI and built for After Effects. A new door opens every morning on Instagram, TikTok, and LinkedIn.

// Illustration in motion
Girl in Starlight, in parallaxThe finished painting, set in motion: thirteen hills cut from the original Procreate layers, each swaying at its own depth while the camera drifts in toward her.The Worm Was Slow — animaticThe whole picture book in 44 seconds: the opening spread animated from its Procreate layers, the inked pages in story order, and the ending straight off the sticky-note storyboard.See the original illustrations →
// Studies in craft & AI
A running series of experiments in making animation with
Claude, code, and AI generation tools. Each one is directed
like a client job: a script, a palette, timing to the beat.
Every explainer also ships as an editable After Effects
project.
How I animate with AIThe process, explained by the process: a conversation becomes code, code becomes frames, and the craft stays in the choices.The golden ratioA short design explainer: proportion drawn line by line, timed to narration with word-by-word captions.The subscription auditThree steps, one forgotten subscription. Interface motion built to make a dull task feel finished.
Motion glossary
Twenty-four effects, each rebuilt in Remotion with the one
setting that makes it work named underneath. It's the
reference my seasonal series draw from. The effect list
comes from AI animation research by @showheyohtaki.
Shop spotAn 18-second promo for my Etsy shop, built from its own tiles and photos: pick a design, see it become a pillow, then visit the shop.Colorway labAn eyedropper samples the four inks of my hand-drawn Art Deco Bloom, then the palette remixes into three new colorways.Monogram identA wall of 36 pattern cards flips three times, through Art Deco Bloom and Art Deco Tulips, and lands on the Colorworks logo.The Great AutomationHow a post leaves my studio: approve it, it's scheduled for 10 am, and it goes out Mon, Wed and Fri on five platforms. Toggle, chart, morph and confetti, with a different transition between every scene.Kinetic typeFour type techniques in my brand fonts and colors: word pops, a letter cascade, mask reveals, and a stack that swaps on the beat.Roll & Do promoAn 18-second spot for my own app, built as interface motion from the app's real colors, copy, and hobby art.
